Since 2010, I have turned my attention increasingly towards understanding and treating so called “treatment-resistant” forms of mood and anxiety disorders. These disorders likely comprise a heterogenous group of conditions that do not respond to standard, evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy and conventional antidepressant and augmentation medications for depression. “Treatment-resistance” can be found early in the course of mood and anxiety disorders or much later, after an individual has been successfully treated for decades.
